Dr. Po Shen Loh will speak to students and parents about interesting areas of mathematics and the importance of mathematics understanding in the modern world. Dr. Loh is a major figure in mathematics education and outreach in the United States. He is a mathematics professor at Carnegie Mellon University, and also the national coach of the USA International Mathematical Olympiad team.
Dr. Loh is a social entrepreneur, working across the full spectrum of mathematics and education, all around the world. He is the founder of the free personalized learning platform expii.com, an education technology startup social enterprise which algorithmically curates openly licensed math/science lessons and problems contributed by the world. research and educational outreach takes him to cities across the world, and he has featured in or co-created videos totaling over 5 million YouTube views.
Dr. Loh has been continually involved in math competitions since he was a contestant in the mid-1990’s: when he represented the state of Wisconsin as a contestant at the National MATHCOUNTS competition, and the United States of America as a contestant at the International Mathematical Olympiad.
